The 20th Annual Calendar Photo Contest Now Open
Calling All Amature, Youth and Professional Photographers!!
Deadline for submissions will be Friday, April 26, 2024
It’s time for the 2025 The Sutter Buttes calendar photo contest! Proceeds from the sale of the calendars help to fund the land trust’s mission and efforts to protect the agricultural lands and the natural resources of the Sutter Buttes and surrounding areas for our generation and future generations.
We need your photos!
Every year we receive hundreds of fantastic photos of the Sutter Buttes and surrounding areas to be included in our stunning 13-month calendar. Each month highlights our unique area taken within Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa counties. We are inviting you to participate by submitting your photo that include any of the following:
- The Sutter Buttes
- Farmers, Ranchers, Farming Activities
- Native Fauna and Flora
- Geological Features
- Waterfowl Habitats
- Unique Natural or Weather Aerials or Landscapes
- Agricultural Heritage or Landscapes
All submissions are judged for originality, expression and quality. Each month features a full-page photo and several thumbnails. All featured photographers will receive full recognition as well as complimentary calendars. Photos will be chosen and photographers contacted by May 13, 2024. |

2025 Sutter Buttes Calendar Submission Requirements & Directions
Deadline: Friday April 26, 2024. Finalists will be chosen and notified by May 12, 2024
Images must be:
- Size of the photo needs to be 8 ½” x 11” (larger photos will be cropped down at our discretion) Landscape (wide not tall) orientation and a minimum of 200-300 dpi. However, portrait and panorama images will be accepted if the photographer provides consent to allow the cropping of your photo to landscape orientation. (some of the photos will be lost to cropping).
- Name image files thus: Last name_ 2025 calendar_ number (1,2,3, etc.).
- Be accompanied by a signed non-exclusive license release form.
- For ease of transferring electronically, you may submit smaller photos (up to 2.5 mgs) for committee review. However, if your photo is selected you will need to provide a full-size image prior to design of the calendar.

3. For electronic submittal of larger files or multiple photos, we recommend using Dropbox.com, Google Drive, or Filemail.com
Compensation:
1. Calendar Cover Photograph: Two (2) Complimentary Calendars and one (1) Gift certificate for one open hike and recognition.
2. Full-page photograph: One (1) complimentary calendar, a Gift certificate for one open hike and recognition.
3. Thumbnail photograph: One (1) complimentary calendar and recognition.
4. All photographers included in the calendar will be invited to the Photographer’s Reception in the late summer/early fall (exact date to be announced) at the Sutter Community Museum with an official unveiling of the calendar and a chance for the photographers to showcase their selected photo during an extended exhibition.
Tips for a successful submission (images are selected by a photo selection committee):
1. Subtle editing, color saturations, and black/white are fine. Preference is given to more natural-looking photos.
2. Send as many images as you’d like. The more we have to look at, the better your chances are for selection.
3. Do not send large files via email. Our server will reject the email.
